Published ! Intellectual biography in film: Portraying Sophie Bọ́sẹ̀dé Olúwọlé

I was asked to write an article about Sophie Bọ́sẹ̀dé Olúwọlé, and the short film Sophie I made about her, for the academic publication Kervan, titled “Investigating intellectual biographies in African Studies” edited by Cristina Nicolini and Flavia Aiello. It’s an honour to be published among such esteemed scholars.

In it I reconstruct and translate parts of my artistic process, which also takes into account ethical considerations related to documentary filmmaking. In doing so, I demonstrate that the plural, complementary nature of filmmaking can lend itself particularly well to express African philosophy. : )
